VOTE!!!

So I would like everyone to participate in the polls on the side bar of my blog. I seriously, truly want to know what people are thinking right now! And I will base who I vote for by the outcome of the poll. HA! Just kidding...I am not that silly...we all know I vote for who my mom votes for.

And I will put in my 2 cents and tell everyone to GO TO THE POLLS on ELECTION DAY!! It is important. Whether you think your vote matters or not...IT DOES. To me, apathy is unattractive and halts progression and allows extremists and weirdos and evil people to get their way...they are usually the loudest...we "normals" need to speak up! We should not put our candles under a bush or something like that...let our light so shine ...oh wait I better google this and get it right...be right back.

Okay..I am back..love Google:

Matthew 5:15-16
15 Neither do men light a
acandle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 Let your alight so shine before men, that they may see your good bworks, and cglorify your Father which is in heaven.

Julie B. Beck expounds on this and says, "When you know who you are and what you should be doing with your life, you don't want to hide your light."

I know that a lot of times this scripture is referred to when talking about talents or gifts...but I think it fits perfectly well with my point...that is important for people to stick up for the values and standards that define who they are. Many times people will sit idly by because they don't want to "rock the boat" or "make a scene" or challenge a more outspoken person. But to me that is not okay...I understand the feelings...but it is not okay to sit by and let people govern and make decisions that are wrong and against God's plan (for those of you who do not believe in God's plan...well then..hhmmm...can I send 2 really nice people over to your house with a free gift;) We need to not just let our lights shine within the walls of our home...but take it out to our communities and nations so that all can see it and benefit from it. And by "light" I mean our knowledge of what is right. Though we love people who make other choices it is not our responsibility to "not offend" We can't let things pass because we don't want to hurt feelings. Doing nothing does nothing for you.

I didn't want to get too in depth or serious...my point was to just vote! But it is almost 3 in the morning so I have no control over my actions. And I am mad at blogger because it won't let me take this text out of italics! blast!

STAND FOR SOMETHING

You're second poll doesn't have mine. I'm not losing sleep. I'm not that optimistic, and I'm not nearly as prepared as I should be...so that's my vote.

Laura,

I don't usually scan too many blogs but yours is a special one-- first because you have a flair for writing and second, because you are such a good friend to Julie and I have always loved you!

I noticed your photos of Mississippi and just had to tell you a story from when Ben and I lived there.

I can't remember all the details, but one day, we went into a small church (I think it was LDS) and happened to notice a sign next to the kitchen window that read: "Please do not throw trash out of the window!" Oh, don't you love the South!

Keep writing. Love to read your posts and see your cute family.

I don't know if you can still do it...but Dave and I got absentee ballots--just in case we are out of town in November :)--but mostly to save time waiting in long lines.

So, yesterday, we filled out our ballots, and I feel great. We've done our part!

Hi JUDY!!! I was so happy to see a comment from you! You just made my whole day!! That story is hilarious and I am laughing my head off because it is soo true! ahahahaha! I have to tell my tenants that all the time!

Good for you Jenny!! We are applying for absentee from Idaho as well because it is too late here and I guess we aren't residents truly yet anyway!

Julie..try the poll again.

oh wait Julie...don't try the poll again because I was going to go make an answer just for you BUT because people already voted I can't change it.

Great post Lala. we have parent teacher conferences on election day, so this past Wednesday I went to the courthouse and voted absentee. I took a sample ballot back to class to show my students. In 4 short years, they will be voters too (I hope)

Amen!!! By the way....you are still as crazy as you were when we were younger, I love it!

Oh..one more thing, I noticed that McCain is leading in your polls, you would never guess that to be the case here in D.C. I mentioned to Cade just the other day that everywhere I go there are bumper stickers, signs, pins, etc...all for Obama. I have seen one, yes one bumper sticker for McCain.

I AGREE 110%!! It IS important to vote! Although I will admit I use to be the one thinking, "does it really matter?" Nick and I registered and you can bet we'll be there voting!

Way to give a shout out! And the part about looking the scripture on google and being mad at blogger is still CRACKING me up!! Sometimes with blogger we all have a love/hate relationship!! It has a mind of it's own sometimes! however I will say that the italics looked good! :) I'm excited to see how the votes turn out on your sidebar!

P-S when does the notes from the underbelly come on? I loved that show when I was pregnant, but never see it on?!? Is it discontinued!

Of course you can use my post Laura, spread it around. I want everyone to hear it, and you have more people that read your blog than mine, so yes.
