A Moment of Your Time Please

So an acquaintance, who does not blog, asked me if I would post a question for all of you out there and would like some responses if you have a moment.

Would you be a customer in a shop where you could come and bring the kiddos and do art projects? I guess it would be an art store where you can do all the projects on-site as well as purchase art supplies to take home. I am thinking something similar to the "paint your own pottery" but this store would be full of paints and canvases, crayons and markers, glitter and stickers, all types of cutting tools, embellishments galore, water colors, chalks, oils, paper and wood and rocks, make your tiara...door hanger type thingys...you could even just bring the little ones in to color or finger paint without the mess at home. Depending on the project the prices would range from just $1.00...up to all you can use I for $20.00 (she wants to know if that is a price someone would pay...too much or too little?) She would also like to have a play group section where groups could get together and work on a project and chat and play and refreshment would be catered...$20.00 a group? There will also be an adult only section for adults who need a studio to create their masterpieces. Classes would be offered by trained or experiences artists and so on.

She would love suggestions and wants to know if this would be a type of activity you would do...if so how often? What would you call a place like this? (if she ends up going forward and likes one of your names she will definitely give you the credit for it;) Is there another service or activity she should offer in the store? What would be your dream store to be able to go to and spend hours with kids?....or by yourself?

Personally, I love the idea! No mess at home or closets full of supplies that rarely get used because it is too much work to get everything out and put it all away! Plus any chance to get out of the house and go to a kid friendly place for a while...heaven anyone?...and educational to top it off.

So what do you think? Please comment!

I think this is an awesome idea! Depending on the price I would go all the time. For like 2 dollars per finger painting activity it would be totally worth it. I hate to do clean up.

I think it would be great. Even if you do have the stuff kids love to get out of the house and need that stimulation. Plus it is less work for us moms!

I really like the idea as well. Going somewhere where there are supplies, and someone else to clean the mess. I'd definitely try it, and then I guess one thing that would make a difference as to whether I came back or not would be if it was accommodating to all of the different ages of my kids. Practically speaking, location is a big deal for me-in other words, I wouldn't be able to travel to Mississippi!

I already am signed up. "Hands On" in Twin Falls does among other fun things, craft time for little kids. The one I am going to take Ethan to is they read a story, do a craft that has to do with the story, and have refreshments. And it costs 11 bucks! So you could charge more at yours! I don't know how cool it is, but if it is awesome I'll go to another one. They have several throughout the year.

I would go for it, too. I especially like the idea of having both kid and adult activities. Getting out of the house for an age-appropriate, socializing activity for the kiddos would be fantastic. Julie's idea to have art go with reading would be a good one to imitate, too.

Oh goodness YES! I think that sounds like a really good idea. As long as the prices were reasonable, we would come at least once a week!

I am with everyone else. It sounds awsome as long as the price fits too. I am all about finding something cheap to entertain my little one.

I would definitely do it, especially for that price!! I think it sounds like a brilliant idea.

I think this is a great idea! Both of my kids would LOVE to do something like this! It would be even better if there were little smocks for them to put on and not get totally covered in messy stuff while they were creating. How fun!

Not having the mess at your own house I think is a huge selling point. I mean, what mother isn't going to go for that??? I guess price comes into it too, but man, sure sounds good to me. I would say go for it!!!
