What The?

I was just chatting with Cheri and we were talking about pregnancy and I wanted to blog about this because it is a weird thing that happened to me when I was pregnant with Carter. I think it will be funny to remember.

By about 8 months I was so swollen that anyone who saw me told me how bad they felt for me. How nice, huh! "Well thank you, you look nice today too!(uppercut to the chin*pow*)haha...I really didn't mind...I knew how I looked so I accepted the fact. My feet looked like they belonged to elephants, my hands looked like latex gloves filled with water, and I waddled, very slowly, everywhere I went.

Well...a few months into my pregnancy I started getting a lot of discomfort in my jaw. I attributed this to my nasty habit of clenching and grinding my teeth at night. I think it was at an all time worst when I was prego. Pretty soon I could no longer shut my mouth all of the way. I could not connect my top teeth with my bottom teeth! This made chewing a nuisance, which made eating an annoyance. It was freaking me out! I went to the dentist and they were trying to think of what to do, but nothing happened immediately.

Well, I just dealt with it and the funniest thing is that as soon as Carter was delivered I could immediately close my mouth!!! That just goes to show you how truly swollen I really was! Even my jaw muscles were involved! It is just evidence how all of the body is connected and something going on in my lower regions was totally affecting my mouth! Not only could I close my mouth once he came out, but I could chew!...and the pain in my hips disappeared, my hands deflated, and eventually my elephant feet turned back into my regular feet...the skinniest part of my body!;) Did anything weird like this happen to you?

(Here is the evidence of how huge I was. I am not embarrassed at all about how huge I am...I am a bit red in the face though about the colors, and print of the swimming suit I am wearing though!(and the fact that I still look like this 2 year post partum)Swimming took a lot of pressure off so I was in the pool most days at this point! Look at that...you see Carter jutting his butt straight out the front of my belly!! Now if I can post this I expect everyone one else can post their prego pics without any shame!)

In the last couple months of my pregnancy, every conversation would start off with "geez, you're HUGE!!". Gee, thanks. Way to build my self-esteem! I had the major swollen feet and hands, and the bad hips, too. It was amazing how quickly it felt better once the baby was born.

My son turned one at the end of last month and I STILL look pregnant, so you're in good comany if you feel like that! :-)

I still think that is so funny! I will proudly post a pregnancy picture, but I only have ones of my belly, not my face. As Brett tells me, my face gets super poofy toward the end and I'm hardly recognizable.

I remember your latex glove hands..wait, I remember it about your feet. No exaggeration. Poor you. It's a good thing Carter was worth it eh?

I love the picture! And at least you had the excuse of being swollen - I didn't swell at all- I was just big! I a pretty sure I was as big at 5 months as I was at 9 1/2 months! I love the picture and i would post some of me but I tried really hard to stay away from the camera at the time - hahaha! Good luck and good luck with final's coming up!

Laurita!!! Your blog is adorable--and so are you! I love reading all that you write! You should consider writing a book you know!

Okay, so I blew up AFTER Lexi came...weird! My feet started swelling so much, I thought they were going to pop and gallons of liquid would pour out! I also craved french fries and jr. bacon cheesburgers throughout the whole pregnancy, and sometimes still do--is that odd?! Should I go see a dr. about this!?

That will be a fun adventure! I hope that you guys have fun and like it! And I have never heard of not being able to even close your mouth! That is insane!!!! My face did get pretty swollen. I looked like an umpa lumpa.

Ahhhh... I think that you would have looked cute with elephant feet :) So, I have decided that I will have your babies for you now..just put your egg, Josh's sperm inside me (that sounds wierd) and then I will pop out your child and you wont have to worry about elephant feet and latex glove hands and postpartem crap...but I must warn you, all I eat is sugar while I am pregnant so your child will come out bouncing off the walls....Kinsey-Subject A.

I know it is so wierd how seriously EVERYTHING hurts when you are pregnant. With my last baby everyone would tell me they felt so sorry for me because I looked so uncomfortable and I still had 4 weeks left! Another girl that I didn't even know said, You look like your ready to pop! No kidding, she said that and I was only like 6 months or something!

My feet and lower legs were ENORMOUS!!! I know that everyone says they were swollen and they show me a picture and it just looks normal to me. You were very swollen...I was very swollen, too. Very, very. I had one pair of stretched out ugly flip flops that I had to wear everywhere...even church. Then I peed like CRAZY right after I had him...literally gallons.

oh Carrie me too....the nurse asked me if I had to pee and I said "no" and she was like..."Well let's just sit on the toilet then"...and I started laughing because I peed for like 5 minutes straight...but I didn't feel like I had to go...it basically just fell out of me because I just pushed a huge baby out...my pelvic floor was destroyed at the moment!! hahah...funny you reminded me that because I just thought it was so funny I told her no...good thing she knew better than I did at the moment or I might have left a trail up to my recovery room!

I love the belly shot! When I was pregnant with my twins, I got HUGE. I was getting out of the shower one day and Alli (age 2) and I had this conversation:

Alli: Mom, why your belly so big?

Me: I've got two babies in there, sweetheart. Every day they're growing and getting bigger, so my belly gets bigger to give them more room.

Alli (suspiciously): Why your bum so big???

Nice.

I have to comment on the peeing thing, because the same exact thing happened to me but when she got me up to try and go to the bathroom and I just started going all over the floor...I know, super classy but my epidural was still in effect so I had no control dang it! But then I also peed for like 5 minutes...what the...all those dang fluids they load you up with!
