America's Favorite Past Time

(the shirt maker took the liberty of inserting a hyphen into our last name)

Carter had his very first T-Ball game today! We were all so excited and looked forward to starting the first game of what we hope will be a lifetime of summer baseball. I LOVE it and passed on my number 18 to Carter. (we were going to have him be #6 because that seems to be his number but it was taken. However, it makes me smile that he has my lucky number on his shirt)

Today was actually a big tournament for all the baseball teams so Carter got a medal. He was so excited and most likely will expect one after each game now. Carter's team is called the Hernando Tadpoles. So cute.

He did pretty well for his first time on a baseball field and his first time on a team. This will be a really good learning experience for him as he begins to realize the world actually does not revolve around him and that he has to give and take as he learns to be a good team player.

All the kids are so cute. They are all 3 or 4 years old. On the field it is complete chaos right now. When the batter hits the ball every player on the field runs for it. The lucky kid to pick it up first is beaming while many of the other kids fall to the ground crying because they weren't fast enough this time. I knew Carter would be one of those kids before we even got to the field. I tried to talk to him about it before hand but there is no use until he has had the experience. Several times when he didn't get the ball he ran back to Josh and shoved his face into Josh's stomach and cried. Josh was very patient and did a good job helping Carter regain focus. (Josh stayed out in the field with Carter as did many other parents) Carter got the ball twice. He also got to be up to bat twice and run the bases. Nobody gets out, no score is kept.

We are looking forward to next week. I am so excited to see how Carter progresses and I hope he grows the same love for the game that I have.

Oh my goodness, this brings back so many memories of when you and nate and casey and jake had your first t-ball games. It is so much fun to watch and help. It will be a good learning experience for Carter. I hope he learns to love baseball as much as I do. Maybe he will be the baseball player that does it in college or even for the Atlanta Braves!!!!!

That is so adorable! It just makes me melt to think of how sweet and little he still is. I love the pictures! I need you to record a few games and send me a dvd copy of it. I think its sweet that they don't keep score and that they are called "Tadpoles" hehehe.

AWWWWW!!! That is what I kept saying when I was reading this! Then I went and showed Matt and said LOOK HOW STINKIN CUTE! I can't believe our babies are almost 4. I remember when they were brand new and we were talking about what bottles we liked best. Now they are growing up.
