Wedding Bells

Katie Mae and Dustin
Engaged! Congrats You Two!!

I stole this picture from Kristin. I wish digital cameras existed when Katie and I were growing up...now I need to track down photos and scan them all in...such a process!! I am so excited for Katie and I am a bit jealous because I wish I was getting married all over again! It was the most beautiful and best day of my life and so much fun!! I can only hope it is that much and more for Katie!

Sorry to get all sentimental but Katie has been one of the most important people in my life and has always been and continues to be an example to me! Katie and I met when we were 6 years old and were best friends ever since! Our parents made sure we got in the same grade school class for 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, until I moved to a new school...then we reunited in Junior High and went on to be roommates our first year of college at BYU-I. She was seriously the BEST roommate a girl could ask for. As far as I can remember we got along perfectly and I don't ever remember a scuffle...Katie did we ever scuffle? All 5 of my roommates were amazing...but it was nice to go into our room and shut the door at times to just get away. Katie and I coexist very well!! (writing all this I hope Katie feels the same way...it would be funny if she has a totally different impression of me and felt as if she was just tolerating me!..ha! sad!)

Katie was always the "good" half. I was the "naughty" half. I always wanted to do risky things and go against the rules. I still remember when we were in 3rd grade and we were standing outside of the school waiting for the bell to ring so that we could go inside. We were not allowed into the building before the bell. Well it was freezing and I tried and tried to get Katie to come into the building with me. But Katie always stuck to the rules and would have rather frozen outside then break the rules. Even something so simple she still had integrity and at such a young age. She has always been an example to me in that way.

I have memories upon memories with Katie. I lived days at a time with her whenever our parents would allow. We had many adventures in the back yard and walking up the lane, playing on the same softball team from the very first season all the way until they no longer had an age group for us, going to the cemetery every memorial day and taking care of the graves that seemed to have been forgotten or all alone, playing Nintendo all through the night and having sore thumbs after, Little Caesar's Pizza, Bean Burritos, Making home videos and laughing our heads off watching them, dressing Kristin up and doing her hair, making Barbie clothes, dressing up like weirdos and wandering around the mall drawing attention to ourselves, girls camp, seeing each other every Sunday at church, playing gymnastics on the picnic table benches and camping out on the trampoline, riding horses, running into the mailbox while tubing, working on the farm, trying to escape my crazy aunt tracking me down to work on the farm, having a yard sale, riding bikes and meeting each other half-way, jumping off the stairs and landing on piles of pillows, sliding down the stairs in sleeping bags, school dances, church dances for that matter and midnight fast food runs courtesy of Alvin, spilling a whole gallon of milk all over the kitchen floor...they say it is my fault...I think it is their fault;) riding to school in the morning, Alvin making toast and hot chocolate and no one eating it but me, playing baby dolls and cars, ice skating in Sun Valley and on the homemade rink, playing basketball, going to volleyball camp together, getting married at a carnival, people thinking we were twins, going to the fair every year and working in the chicken booth, and on and on and on...I could go on all night.

Some of my very most treasured memories were made with Katie...and Kristin...and Ann....they were my second family and always will be!! I love you all more than I could ever say. The love and experiences you gave me are priceless...

I am thankful for you each and every day.

Katie, here are my wishes for you. That your wedding will be everything you hope it to be. That you will experience pure joy and companionship as you set out on this new journey in your life. That will know how much purpose you have in this life and that you have touched so many lives along the way. You matter more than you will ever know!

Thanks so much for always being there for me...no matter what.

oh yes and i forgot to say the most important part...You are just as much a part of our family as anyone else! And we love you more than you could ever know! Heck Laura if it weren't for you I wouldn't know anything about being a girl and other things! And we certainly would not have had as much fun as we did growing up!

Isn't Lily a beast! She's huge and she standing up to things and trying to take steps along the couch. Upsetting and exciting at the same time.
