I Have Stories!

Today's Journal...Write 5 Memories from your Pre-Marital Life that Pops Into Your Head Randomly.

This one always pops into my mind. One day Julie and I decided we wanted to have an adventure. We were seniors in high school(seniors right Ju?) So, we asked Mr. Miller(our drama teacher) if we could use the auditorium to watch movies on the big projector after Sweetheart Ball. I remember it was Sweetheart Ball because Casey Tindall was my date and Julie asked Brad Rasmussen(otherwise I would have been confused of what dance...and yes..this also means we were seniors...see how I use my noggin!) Mr. Miller said that would be okay and handed us over the keys. wow...really? It was that easy? This was on a Thursday and the wheels in our heads began turning...a dangerous pastime...I know! The big adventure we decided on was that we were going to stay the night in the auditorium and stay up watching movies on the movie theater sized screen and just have a party. We tried recruiting Carrie...her mom didn't go for it. We were naughty because our mothers thought we were at each other's houses....oh wait I think my mom knew but Julie's mom thought she was at my house(Mom..did you know about this?)....hahaha...I will never trust my kids because of us!

Anyways...we get a bunch of blankets and pillows and movies and get to the auditorium. We played music really loud, watch movies, climbed around the cat walks...and I don't know what else!...but after this the story is no longer cool. We got scared of course. We are in a huge auditorium that creaks and moans and has stories told about it having a ghost and we begin to freak ourselves out. However, we are determined to make it through the night. We have limited resources to call to our aid because we don't want anyone to know we are staying there because we would have been in big trouble...so we decide on calling Lance...we try to talk him into bringing lots of junk food...he did show up ...I think without food...boo. And then I think we all fell asleep ...Julie is that how this goes? See...I didn't write it down soon enough...but I am sure you have it written down somewhere right? But didn't we wake up and go to school the next morning?

I do remember being in Drama class and the guy hired to take care of the auditorium...Dave? Came in and told Mr. Miller there was a bunch of blankets and pillows in the auditorium and it looked like someone had slept there...we quickly covered by saying we put all that there just to have it ready for the dance...and I remember us looking at each other and being slightly worried at getting caught...but we were smooth. Hahahahaha....this is as rebellious and daring as we got!

One day in elementary school...I was attending Lincoln in Twin Falls at the time...we had an assembly where a man came and taught us how to act out miming. I was thrilled when he picked me out of the audience to come on stage! I was supposed to walk across the stage and pretend to slip on an invisible banana peel...and mime out what that might look like. Well...I did as I was told and as I pretended to slip I was acting so well that I actually fell...flat on my butt...on stage...I can't remember exactly what grade this was...but I think it was either 3rd, 4th, or 5th...and I was SO EMBARRASSED! I guess more than I thought because I have kept that memory with me as I have forgotten others.

I have so many memories from 9th grade...most of them have Julie in them...that is the time when we started to get more freedom and hanging out more with boys and all that teenager stuff. Well...we started hanging out with 2 boys who were best friends and it was so much fun and even thrilling because they were older and in high school already...and for a junior high girl that is a big, freaking deal! It ended up that Julie began "going out" with Curt Jones and I was with Ryan Bevan (who just recently got married...Congrats!) We couldn't actually go out with these boys because we weren't old enough yet...but we found ways to get around that...like just happening to meet up at the movies...I think we went to Titanic like 6 times!...they would park down at Robert Stuart Jr. high's parking lot and Julie and I wold just happen to take a stroll down the block and find them there, and we would meet at CSI basketball games (I think it is so funny that it became so popular to hang out at college b-ball games. Meanwhile we were all involved with the play "The Music Man"...which I can't ever explain how much that changed my life(that is a big story in itself)...but it was exciting and fun and yes we felt a little rebellious which just made it that more invigorating. I don't remember how long this went on...only a few months...we all broke up and there was some silly drama and I later threw a bag of candy at Curt's head which was really rude and made Ryan miss a scene in the play...oh the drama...the drama! But it was fun...oh yeah and I have to remember Sod Busters(Or was it Idaho Joe's by then?)....that is mainly where it all started...The Hovering! ha! love it!

I had a T-Shirt once that said "Softball is Life: The Rest is Just Details" You know those shirts...everyone had one that said something or the other. Well...that shirt really did sum up about 7 summers of my life. I LOVED playing softball!!! Everyone says it is just a game...and everyone is wrong! Once our team got it's first taste of victory we were in it to win every time!! I think we won the championships all but 2 years! I played 2nd base and I owned it! Nobody took my spot unless I needed a break! My mom coached the team and Ann Allen(my 2nd mother) was the assistant coach. Yes, some of the girls didn't think it was fair and many murmured against me saying I only got to play 2nd because my mom coached...well...that is one of the perks of having a mother take many hours out of many summers to coach a bunch of little sniffling girls! So too bad! Boy did we all have attitude but it was so much fun and we rocked the field. For the most part we were known as Intermountain Heating and Air Conditioning. Stefanie Ernst's dad sponsored us and was at most games. He was a great sponsor and fan! Here is how things played out for the most part(sorry this is minutiae but I want to remember...Katie Allen or Amanda Buhler played 1st base--Laura 2nd base--Stefanie 3rd base--Melanie Dennis and Amanda Buhler were our pitchers for the most part--Tessa Fuller was an Awesome catcher! then the outfield switched around some as different players came and went. We had Lynn VonBerndt and Lynsey Nutting,Kristal Eastman, Allison Reed, Crystal Nipper,Jamie Schellhouse(sp?sorry) , Jenny Guzman, Christin Borg, Stephanie Slane, Alli and Lacie Hillman, Kari Eisenhauer, Cassandra Johnson, Mirona C, Lindsay Bell, --oh darn..I shouldn't have tried to name everyone...I will have to find my team pictures and post them if I can get my hands on them! Anyways...some of the best times of my life and even though my mom was a softball nazi sometimes and we clashed heads and embarrassed each other...I am so glad she was my coach and we have those memories to share together!

Katie and I met the summer before entering 2nd grade. We have been together ever since! I spent many, many, many, MANY days and nights at her house. The Allen's really are my 2nd family.(I always thought for a while I was going to marry Tim....haha...he married another Laura though:) One memory I love is that Katie and I really got addicted to a Super Nintendo game called "Top Gear"...we stayed down in her basement and played it a full evening and night straight....clear until it was morning outside! I remember my thumb turning numb...but we just had to keep going and try and beat the game...we never did beat it:(...but that was so much fun. We always had Little Caesar's pizza and bean burritos, and Shasta Pop, and Doritoes...that was our staple over the weekends and it seriously couldn't have gotten any better....until these many years later when all the calories and carbs caught up with me....hhhhmmmm....somehow Katie and Kristin came out untouched....not fair! Love that family....love that I have so many memories with them....I will definitely be posting more later! I have to get this stuff all down before I forget it all!!....Won't it be fun when we get back to Heaven(or if) and we get to watch our life video...oh how fun! Do they have popcorn in Heaven?

Now I want everyone else to do the same thing and post 5 random memories that pop into your head! Go! Now! I want to read about you!

Intermountain Heating and Air Conditioning. My foe in softball. I loved it, I wasn't the best at it, but still I got most singles for the season one time, I think my parents might still have the trophy somewhere. I HATED your team. Haha. If only I knew then that someday I wouldn't care...

Thanks Cheri for seconding this motion... your team was the worst. Second only to PSI. We LOATHED you both! Go Prudential (formerly known as Gem State Realty)!

Katy

P.S. You have a good memory... I don't think I could name the people on my team

Oh those made me laugh so hard. I love that you do fun things like this! I am going to do this tonight! So check tonight! I was also thinking about the time you got a concussion on your bike and you were like I'm ok I don't need to go home...and then 5 minutes later you were like um I need to go home right now..that was so sad!

You're right! It was Skip. I actaully really like him, even if he did cuss like a drunken sailor. Katy, our team probably was one of the worst, I didn't have the nicest girls on my team. And then Melissa what's her name and Stephanie White's moms were coaches and wow were they bad and mean. But all and all I LOVED softball. It was so much fun. I was the only person in my family who played sports and I was an only girl. Kind of funny.

Holy Smokes! I didn't know you slept in the auditorium. That is crazy! And Awesome!

Also, I do remember that after you had that party and I spent the night at Kristin's, she wanted to reenact the pranking fun...thus a whole new chapter in my life. Also, do you remember being at home and making surveys and calling random people in the phone book and asking them stupid questions like "Would you rather eat: Steak, Lobster, french fries or soup?" or something like that. Aah, the days before caller ID.
