I am ecstatic to report that the hideous wall paper you see behind the stockings is no longer there...we have been busy the past couple of days...pictures to come!

Here is my coveted card wall...some of you reading this will see yourselves up there...I have gotten a few more since this picture so if you don't see yours that is why...thank you to everyone who sent me one!
Of course I did not get any pictures of me or my presents...which I need to make sure I take some pictures! Josh got me a sewing machine...that is all I asked for..so he did great! He also got me a bunch of random stuff just to have things for me to open...I ended up taking quite a few things back to the store and will pick out something I really want...or just use the money to pay bills or or by groceries...you know...the boring yet essential stuff.
On Christmas Eve we delivered the Angel Tree gifts to all of the families we had and that was a lot of fun. We then had to run to the store for a few last minute items (it seems the rest of the county had to as well...it was packed) by the time we finished I realized the roast I had marinating in the fridge still had 3 hours to cook and my Christmas Eve dinner would not be realized. We decided at the last minute to go out to dinner instead. We went to "On the Border" and Carter bumped his face on the table and his cheek instantly bruised. The food was okay...but it was fun to go out and just be together rather than in the kitchen fretting over dinner.
We woke up at 8:00 Christmas morning and opened gifts and then Skyped my family and watched them open their gifts. I really love Skype...it makes living far away possible. Then we talked to Josh's family and had a simple breakfast. After that we put on "Horton Hears a Who" and all fell asleep. I can't believe this but I think I fell asleep at 11:30 and I slept until after 3:00...now that was an excellent Christmas nap!!
After I woke up we got ready to go and went over to the Smith's house. We had a delicious dinner and then played games. It was nice to get out of the house for a while and get to know this family in our ward. It was also very nice to be fed dinner!
We then came home and talked to family (and Katie) some more and just enjoyed the last hour before bed.
I cannot believe how fast Christmas came and went. I hardly had time to anticipate it. I didn't get to do a lot of the activities I wanted to do with Carter to build the excitement of the season...but we did get to read a lot of Christmas books and watch the Grinch (Jim Carrey) about 200 times (and it is on as I type this as well). Amazingly I still like the movie!
It was a great day and so much fun! I predict next year to be even better as Carter's understanding of the happenings of the season increases!
Hope all was well for you and your family and I wish you all an amazing New Year...may many great things come to fruition in 2009 for all of us!
