Mundane Musings

Hello! How are you? I'm fine thank you.

I was just feeling pretty pleased with myself because after starting off the day with blogging in bed(never a good thing for me...it could be hours later when I realize I have a child;) I realized I needed to get my bum in gear and CLEAN my house! I was reading Katy's blog and thought hhmmm...people have house cleaning schedules?..What a novel idea! And while I am still reluctant to make a schedule (it is just not a schedule I want to have!) I decided to mark today as cleaning day on my non-existent calendar.

So...so far I have done 4 sinkfuls of dishes..which I loathe entirely...especially washing silverware, which I usually leave for Josh...but since he was mowing the hundred miles of lawn he is in charge of today I decided to buck up and do them.(and no we do not have a dishwasher *gasp* I know!) I did bond a bit with the knives...they are so sleek and clean-up so well. The forks and spoons will need to prove themselves a bit more if they are going to win me over.

Oh and before that I successfully scheduled 2 year-old immunizations and well-baby check-up...for tomorrow!! Hooray...no having to call 3 months in advance like I had to in Poky.

Then I washed Carter's bedsheets AND mattress pad mind you...and have now moved on to getting my linens laundered as well. Laundry is something I enjoy which might be one of the reasons I do manage to get our beds stripped and cleaned every week(the other reason is I can imagine heaven knows what creeping and crawling all over our beds and sheets and just can't stand the thought of bed bugs)...laundry is one thing...and it just might be the only thing I am particular about

Then I proceeded to make us a delicious lunch of chicken sandwiches which Carter happily gobbled down half a sandwich and then asked for more! For my soul delighteth in the asking from Carter to eat some more! He rarely eats all of anything and looses interest in meal time very quickly...so it really makes me happy to know he has a full belly. We all know full bellies feel gooooooood! Josh was quite pleased to come in drenched in sweat and find he had some yummy lunch all prepared for him as well...oh just look at me being a wife AND a mother AND a housekeeper all in one day....I am just beaming with pride (what...most of you do this daily? huh? oh dear)

Okay...now I need to clean toilets and sinks...and if I get really ambitious I think I might organize Carter's room...which I have no idea why I would do that because Carter can't stand a clean floor or organized shelves...he prefers bare shelves and covered floors that he can trip over and stub his toes on things. Got me. On second thought...skip Carter's room entirely and focus some attention on my room.

So yes I know this post was very exciting...but I just wanted to post about our day of nothing to noteworthy so that when I am 50 and wonder what a day was like when I was half that age...I can look back on today and remember. Like I mentioned to Katy on her blog today...life is good. It may be messy and an unorganized...but for me...good. We are all content, happy, and healthy. Knock on wood and say a quick prayer of thanksandaskthatitstaythiswaybecauseIamreallygrateful

This is so funny, because just this morning I decided that I would be a good wife and do laundry, AND fold it, AND put it away. I also did dishes (by hand; no dishwasher for us either!)

I decided to be a good mom by taking Easton to preschool AND picking him up afterwards.

We had leftover pizza for lunch, so that might not count--but we did EAT!

YAY--it's a good day to get stuff done!

Even though you are the cleanest of clean especially about laundry..do you know bedbugs live in and on the mattress? We're supposed to vacuum the mattress really carefully too. Like we need another chore. But knowing you, you probably already do that. I better get on that again.

Oh man, you have reminded me of so many things that I need to get done. Why did you do that, already??? I'd rather sit here knowing that it's fine because everyone else is disregarding the same things. Alright, better go strip my bed now!

Holy Cow, nice work Laura!!....you always feel guilty blogging when you read a post like this, knowing that you should be doing those things instead of just reading about other people doing them.....
And you are now my hero for doing all your dishes by hand....I will no longer complain about having to place them in the dishwasher :)!!

wo. good job. about the dishwasher, I made nate find one on craigslist (portable one) before we got out there. and I always try to have a cleaning schedule- BUT I stop doing it like the first week...YOU have inspired me to actually stick do it. Otherwise I do fall behind and then cleaning it up is just so much harder... arrrg cleaning.

Hey, you wanna come clean my house too? I still have boxes to unpack from moving back into my apartment!! Hey are you coming back to Idaho for x-mas? If you are, I think we need to all get together for a little roomie reunion. Let me know!

go Laura!! I am glad that we can relate! I find that I blog way more than I should sometimes and I too forget about all of the other things that should really get done. You are a great Mom and wife! Carter and Josh are lucky to have you!!

Loved the prayer, Laura! I knew about vacuuming mattresses, but I rarely do it. I did yesterday, because one of my sweet little boys crawled into bed with me in the morning and peed. IN MY BED. So I doused the mattress in baking powder and let it soak for a while, then vacuumed. Wah-lah, no stink! I'm good at getting laundry clean, but then I'll realize I have four loads sitting on the bottom of the stairs to be put away. Today I must clean bathrooms, mop floors, volunteer for two hours at Alli's school, and make something yummy for the friends we're inviting over for movies tonight. All that on top of blogging and showering. Sigh.
